At the heart of B.C. wine country, just outside Oliver, there’s a place that feels a little like a festival and a little like the future. The District Wine Village is unlike anything else in Canada—a purpose-built community where wine, beer, and craft spirits meet under big skies and even bigger ambitions. Thirteen tasting rooms, one communal crush pad, and a built-in amphitheatre bring energy and innovation to this unlikely courtyard in the South Okanagan.
But it’s more than a cluster of cellar doors. It’s an incubator for winemakers with something to say—and a way to say it without the million-dollar price tag of starting their own facility. Here, the Village offers production space and front-of-house tasting rooms side-by-side, giving rising stars and seasoned producers alike a chance to pour, grow, and experiment. It’s a place where the next cult wine might be just one barrel away from discovery.
On Thursdays, the pace slows a little. The crowds are lighter, the conversations longer. And now, with a Village Passport in hand, visitors can sip their way through the Village one taste at a time. For just $10, the passport gives you ten vouchers—each one redeemable for a one-ounce pour of wine from any winery on site. Or, if you’re feeling curious, a flight-size beer from Neighbourhood Brewing or a tasting of something bold from Yellow Dog’s craft spirits lineup.
Passports are available online (ready for pickup at Apricus Cellars) or can be purchased in person at Apricus or Gneiss Wines. They’re good for Thursdays throughout the 2025 season, making it the perfect excuse for a weekly ritual—wine tasting the way locals do it, slow and steady.
There’s something charming about tasting a Viognier beside the winemaker who fermented it, or hearing firsthand why that Pinot Gris ended up in amphora instead of barrel. At the District, every label has a face, and every pour has a story. The passport just gives you a reason to hear more of them.
Thursdays aren’t just for getting a head start on a weekend in Okanagan wine country. In the Village, they’re for discovery—one sip at a time.
Located at 100 Enterprise way, Oliver, British Columbia, South Okanagan.
