Okanagan Spirits celebrates 10 years of BRBN with a collector’s pour worth savouring

There’s something quietly powerful about a distillery that knows who it is. No flash, no gimmicks—just grain, oak, time, and a deep sense of place. For Okanagan Spirits Craft Distillery, the ten-year milestone of their flagship whisky, BRBN, isn’t just a moment on the calendar—it’s a decade of patience, pride, and provenance.

Crafted entirely in British Columbia using 54 percent Coldstream Valley corn and 46 percent malted barley, BRBN has always stood apart. It’s not bourbon by legal definition, but it drinks like the real thing, with a signature Northern character. The team mills, ferments, distills, and ages every batch on-site, then rests it in heavily toasted white oak for five years—long enough to mellow, deepen, and take on a honeyed smoothness that’s become the distillery’s hallmark.

This tenth anniversary edition keeps the soul of BRBN intact, but adds a layer of intention. The limited-run bottle honours the spirit’s roots while offering collectors something rare: a true farm-to-glass whisky, born of Canadian soil and crafted with reverence. The look is refined, the profile familiar—caramel, vanilla, toasted grain, a wisp of honeycomb—and the timing couldn’t be better. Bottles are now available in-store and online, but they won’t be around long.

Okanagan Spirits has always done things its own way. Since 2004, the family-run distillery has focused on small-batch excellence, with deep ties to the land and a philosophy that favours authenticity over flash. From copper stills to local fruit brandies, their range has grown to include more than 50 handcrafted spirits—but BRBN remains a cornerstone.

This year, their work was recognized on a global scale. At the 2025 World Spirits Awards, Okanagan Spirits walked away with eleven golds, five silvers, and the title of World-Class Distillery for their whisky—a reminder that what’s quietly exceptional at home can still turn heads abroad.

“To represent Canada and claim the Worldwide Whisky designation again is a dream come true for our little family distillery. We’re just proud to be in the room with the world’s best.” says CEO Tyler Dyck. “To sweep seven whisky categories and even nab gold for Poire Williams [pear brandy]—a spirit that’s notoriously tough to nail—it’s beyond what we could’ve imagined.”

As with any good story in the glass, the beauty lies in the details. Pour it neat in your favourite glass, let it open for a moment, and taste what the Okanagan has to offer. There’s warmth, there’s grace, and just enough edge to remind you that this isn’t Kentucky. It’s something else entirely—and it’s worth celebrating.
